Aga Khan Boys Secondary

Founded in the Upanga district, the institution served the Ismaili and broader Asian community. It was part of a communal ecosystem, producing a student body deeply rooted in both academic rigor and cultural identity.

Nationalization & Ujamaa

Following the Arusha Declaration, the school was nationalized and renamed Tambaza. This was an ideological transformation, rapidly diversifying the student body and forging a melting pot of Tanzanian national identity.

Today, Tambaza High School is the premier urban high school of Dar es Salaam. Balancing its prestigious heritage with 21st-century global education, we serve ~590 students across 11 Advanced Level combinations.
